Our school embraces Innovative learning pedagogy which incorporates responsive teaching practice, ākonga ownership of learning, high levels of engagement, authentic contexts, the development of learner capabilities and the strategic use of digital technologies to connect, create and share learning.

Innovative pedagogy is an improved approach to teaching and learning and is part of a New Zealand and worldwide change in education based on research. It builds on the things we already do well while continuing direct teaching in reading, writing and mathematics.

At Kohimarama we embed the following innovative teaching and learning practices.

  • Integrated curriculum
  • Co constructed curriculum
  • Agentic learning
