In addition to the school physical education programme, there are a wide range of school sports events and sports teams for the children to get involved in.

Sports Codes
Athletics (Year 1-8)
The whole school participates in either the Junior or Senior Athletics Days in Term 4. The Junior event (Year 1-3) is run at the School and the Senior event (Year 4-8) is held at Glover Park each year.
The top Year 5-8 places, go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs event and the top Year 7-8 places also compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Basketball (Year 3-8)
The school has a number of Basketball teams that compete each week at the ASB Stadium at Selwyn College during Term 2-4.
Each year we send a Year 5-6 team, to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and the top Year 7-8 teams to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Cross Country (Year 1-8)
The whole school participates in the school Cross Country in Term 3.
The top Year 4-6 places, go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs event and the top Year 7-8 places compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Netball (Year 2-8)
The school has a number of Netball teams that compete each week at the AMI Netball Centre in St Johns during Term 2 & 3.
Each year we send a Year 5-6 team, to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and the top Year 7-8 teams to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Rugby (Year 5-8)
The school does not have a regular rugby team, as the children are well catered for by local clubs. However, each year in Term 2 we send a Year 5-6 team to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and a Year 7-8 team to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Soccer (Year 5-8)
The school does not have a regular soccer team, as the children are well catered for by local clubs. However, each year in Term 2 we send a Year 5-6 team to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and a Year 7-8 team to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Swimming (Year 5-8)
The Year 5-8 students participate in the school Swimming Sports in Term 1, held at Sacred Heart College.
The top Year 5-6 places, go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs event and the top Year 7-8 places compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Touch Rugby (Year 2-8)
The school has a number of Touch Rugby teams that compete each Tuesday at Madills Farm during Term 4.
The top Year 5-6 places, go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs event and the top Year 7-8 places compete in the Eastern Zones event.
In Years Where Possible
Cricket (Year 4-8)
The school does not have a regular cricket team. However, when possible in Term 4 we send a Year 4-6 team to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and a Year 7-8 team to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Flippa Ball (Year 3-6)
The school has a number of Flippa Ball teams, who play on a Sunday afternoon at Scared Heart College.
Gymnastics (Year 4-6)
When possible in Term 3 we send a Year 4-6 team to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and a Year 7-8 team to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Softball (Year 5-6)
The school does not have a regular softball team. However, when possible in Term 2 we send a Year 5-6 team to compete in the Bay Suburbs event, and a Year 7-8 team to compete in the Eastern Zones event.
Inter-school Competitions
Bay Suburbs
Kohimarama School is part of the Bays Suburbs cluster group which provides inter-school sports tournaments for students in Years 5 & 6.
Eastern Zones
We are part of the Eastern Zone cluster that provides inter-school sports tournaments for Year 7 & 8 students.
AIMS Games
The AIMS Games are considered an International Championships for Year 7 & 8 students to compete as an individual or in a team against the best of their age in twenty different sports. Kohimarama School sends children based on the current students strengths. In the last few years, we have competed in Basketball, Cross Country and Yachting.
