A Message from Kiri Team

Tēnā koutou from Kiri

What an exciting start to Term 4! Swimming has been an absolute winner! For the past 2 weeks our older students have travelled to SwimMagic by bus for some fun filled lessons. What a great opportunity for students to develop confidence in the pool, learn some water safety and consolidate their swimming skills. There have been miles of smiles each day! Thank you SwimMagic.

We have had some exciting new developments in our playground. Kiri has become a beautiful environment with some popular features. There is now a Kiri whare, a new Kohimarama boat, a spectacular painted fence and a cool garden! Thank you to everyone who contributed.

A quick snapshot of some of the awesome learning happening in Kiri Team. Students have been learning about Diwali by making rangoli patterns and diva.

Room 4 has some fabulous published stories and Room 3 has some Art by Picasso 🙂

All of Kiri team have started an inquiry about Animal Habitats which we are super excited about.

A very big welcome to the new families who have students starting in Room 7 with Amanda Martinez. Amanda has taught in Florida, North Carolina, Dunedin and Tokyo!

A big shout out to Janet Austin for putting our Kiri team readers away. Thank you!

Ngā mihi,

Kiri Team

The Kohimarama Way – Respect

Without respect for rules, we would have confusion.  People would treat each other rudely and violate each other’s privacy and other rights.  Respect helps people to feel valued.  Elders deserve special respect because they have lived longer and learned many of life’s lessons.  Self-respect is making sure no one hurts you or abuses you, even an elder.  When you respect yourself, others respect you, too.

News

Kohimarama’s Got Talent 2022

By Friday this week, students who are entering the Musical Instrument section will have to have written their names on the entry form in their class.  The forms for this section only will be collected on Friday ready for their performance next Thursday 10th November.

  • Singing – Wednesday 16th November
  • Comedy or Magic – Thursday 17th November
  • Dance – Monday 28th November

Students are able to enter more than one category if they have talents in these areas, we don’t want anyone to miss out.  Students are able to enter as individuals and/or groups.

Year 7/8 EPRO8 Finals

Last week, Kohimarama School sent a year 7/8 team to the EPRO8 finals competition.  It is a huge achievement to have made it this far, having placed in the in-school competition, and semi-finals events to be selected.

Congratulations to Lara K, Acacia G, Scarlett W and Nina R.

The theme was leisure activities so the girls made a limbo machine that would set off an alarm if the bar dropped and a 10-pin bowling game that sensed when pins were struck down.

It was a tough competition!

COVID-19 tests available from the office

The school has a stock of RAT Tests so please speak to the office if you need some for your family.  Or you can access RATs from the MOH here: Request a RAT– Ministry of Health
