Dear Parents and Caregivers
The Prime Minister and Minister of Education announced yesterday that Auckland Schools would remain closed in Alert Level 3 at the beginning of Term 4. A review of this setting by the Government will occur on Monday 18 October.
As we remain in Alert Level 3, if your circumstances have changed since last terms lockdown, as an essential worker that needs to leave your home to go to work and there is no one available to appropriately supervise children, then please email pengles@kohimarama.school.nz indicating your working status and the days/times that you are requesting assistance with supervision of your child(ren). Please make contact prior to 4pm on Thursday so that staffing can be organised and COVID testing can be completed as required.
Online Learning for all Students
Staff are already working towards resumning online learning for all students. This was one of the contingencies that we considered at the end of the last term.
Details about the learning will come to you from the Team Leader/Teacher of your child before we commence school. You should expect an update about the learning for your child(ren) from the team on Friday 15 October at 5.00pm.
COVID tests and Vaccinations for school staff
As announced yesterday all school staff including relieving teachers, contractors etc will need to have a COVID test before we begin onsite. We are awaiting further details from the Ministry of Education around the timeframes and process.
Staff will also need to be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022 and have had at least a first dose by 15 November 2021. Again the school is aware of this requirement and is awaiting the Ministry update on this and the register.
New Staff for Term 4
We are delighted to welcome the following staff to our team.
In Room 24 Mrs Amy Ewen and Ms Lara Maissin will start working with our New Entrants initially online and then in the classroom once we return to school. They will be supported by Miss Matilda White as Learning Assistant for this classroom.
In Room 19 we welcome Mrs Desiree Young to our Year 7 / 8 in Snell Team. She will initially be in the classroom on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then full time from 22 November.
In the meantime, keep safe in your bubbles.
Kind regards
Paul Engles
Principal
