1 October 2021
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Today is the last day of Term 3 2021. It has certainly been a different, extended and challenging term. Schools are now closed for the two week holiday period and will reopen for all students on Monday 18th October. At this stage we do not know what that might look like. Please rest assured that the staff have been planning for a variety of contingencies depending on the alert level we find ourselves in at the commencement of term 4. Our sincere hope is that we will be onsite and face to face with students again in term 4.
We are looking to make an adjustment to the school calendar namely; The planned Teacher Only Day will be amended so that students will be on site for learning and we will have a group of relieving teachers support the release of teachers for parts of the day rather than close the school entirely. We believe that maximising the learning time in term 4 is crucial to ensure continued acceleration and engagement in learning.
We have been notified by the Ministry of Education that at Alert Level 3, school grounds, including playgrounds, courts and fields, are to remain closed until the alert level changes. We realise that our community likes to use the school during the holidays but unfortunately no one is to enter the school grounds.
I will be in contact with you in the latter half of the second week of the holiday to update you on the protocols that the school will have in place at the start of term 4. This information is crucial to ensuring that we all start together on the same page. Please ensure that you make yourselves and your children familiar with the protocols.
The message I gave to staff at our meeting this afternoon was to encourage them to take these next few weeks to rest and relax with family. This is the same message that I give to you. Please take this time to have fun as a family.
Kind regards
Paul Engles
Principal
