Dear Parents and Caregivers
As we come to the end of term 3 2021, it is opportune to think about how we have had to change our learning environment again to meet COVID 19. I know that you are all affected by the Alert Levels that have been placed on us to minimise the spread of the Delta variant in our communities across Auckland. We all responded in our own ways to ensure that we cope as well as possible in the circumstances.
My thanks to you and your children for the way in which you supported online learning during this term. I know that you will have had to design workarounds to manage learning and your own work commitments. No easy feat in a family situation.
I just wanted to reassure you that our school staff have continued to be available to support your child’s learning and wellbeing during this time. I am delighted that our School Counsellor was also able to continue to work albeit online with students wanting to have some of her time. Thank you to the staff for their continued care and support of the learners.
Kohimarama School is continuing to plan for Alert Level 2 as we are hoping that the COVID response level will drop before we are due to begin term 4. I will be updating you in the latter part of the holiday period as to how Kohimarama School will manage the return to site for our students.
Planning for 2022
This is the time of the year when the Senior Management Team begin looking at our roll numbers and staffing needs and the preparation of classes for 2022. The process of placing children in classes is based on a range of information we have related to each child’s academic needs, achievements and social relationships. It is a complex process to create the right balance in each class and meet the best interests of all our children, one that we take very seriously. We invite you to provide us with any request for the placement of your child/ren for 2022. You can email your request to : classplacements@kohimarama.school.nz
All class placement requests are to be sent via this email address. We will consider all such requests received although we are unable to guarantee that we can accommodate them. Please provide your request before midday, Friday 22nd October.
If your child/ren will be leaving, or possibly leaving at the end of the 2021 school year on 16th December, please complete the attached google form as this is also an important part of our 2022 planning.
Students Leaving at the end of 2021
Note Year 8 students do not need to complete this.
Alert Level 3
You will note that the school grounds remain closed in Alert Level 3. This is at the direction of the Ministry of Education.
The Staff of Kohimarama School wish you all the very best during the school holiday break and hope that you stay safe and well. Take care everyone. Kia Kaha
Kind regards
Paul Engles
Principal
