Covid-19 – 20 September 2021

20 September 2021

Dear Parents and Caregivers

The Prime Minister has announced that Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 on Wednesday 22nd September. We are initiating our planning for this move and as indicated schools remain effectively closed at this level.

The key message is that you should keep your child at home in Alert Level 3 as it is the safest place for them and you

Online Learning Continues

Our distance learning plan will continue for all students through Alert Level 3. I want to assure you that we will continue to support your child’s learning at home. Teachers will still be following our online learning process over the next period of Alert Level 3.

Requirements for Physically Attending School At Alert Level 3

You should only physically send your child to school if you need to go out to work and there is no one able to look after your child at home or you are unable to make alternate care arrangements.

Please fill in the google form below if your child/ren will need to attend school during Alert Level 3 as we will be unable to accommodate children without prior notification. We would appreciate a quick response so that planning and staffing can be confirmed. Please respond no later than midday on Tuesday 21st September.

Form – students attending school in Alert Level 3 only.

  • You do not need to complete the form if your children will remain at home. ● A non return will be taken as not returning to school until Alert Level 2. ● We will be unable to have children attend without prior notification.

In order to ensure the safety of those children and our staff who do come to school, we will be operating with strict enforcement of health and safety measures with guidance from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. Kohimarama School strongly recommends the wearing of masks for all staff and students onsite during Alert level 3 as the Delta variant of COVID-19 and its transmission between people, including children, continues to be a factor we need to consider.

All our usual safety precautions for Alert Level 3 will be in place which include following recommendations from the public health experts. Bubbles are no bigger than 10 students, we will regularly clean and disinfect areas that are occupied, encourage everyone to frequently wash their hands and cover their coughs and sneezes, and keep everyone physically distanced from others as much as possible (1 metre inside and two metres outside), following guidelines for ventilating the work areas.

Please keep connecting with your teachers with any questions you might have. I am happy to answer any wider questions regarding Alert Level 3.

Reminder

  • Children to Attend in Alert Level 3 : You must complete the Google form immediately, no later than midday Tuesday 21st September.

Kind regards
Paul Engles
