A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
As we come to the end of this second term I would like to thank you for your continued support of Kohimarama School. I especially want to acknowledge our PTA and the work that they continually do to provide us with opportunities for our students through fundraising and supporting our planning to enhance the learning environment.
I want to acknowledge staff for their support of the learners at Kohimarama School. The opportunity to discuss progress for individuals at our learning conversations will be the culmination of the reporting cycle for this first half of 2021.
Learning Conversations
Each conversation booking is 15 minutes long. To ensure the smooth running of this for everyone, please ensure that you arrive on time for your booked appointment. The end of the Learning Conversation will be by the school bell.
- Wednesday 7th July – School will finish for students at 1pm
- Thursday 8th July – School will finish for students at 3pm (as usual)
We will have some capacity to supervise students in the hall where parents are unable to make alternative arrangements on Wednesday afternoon. It is important that your child’s classroom teacher is informed by 9.00am on Wednesday morning if you would like your child supervised in the hall.
Counselling Services at Kohimarama School
Following on from COVID 19 and changes to our society where work, leisure and living have all returned to a different normality, we have noticed a general increase in the number of students experiencing some form of anxiety or reduced resilience, and this has resulted in an increase in referrals to counselling agencies for students at Kohimarama School. The four primary schools within our community of learning have had similar experiences and have all discussed what can be done to provide additional support for the wellbeing of our students.
We have managed to make a successful application for a limited amount of funding from the Ministry of Education for Counselling Services. We are therefore pleased to be able to offer the services of a dedicated School Counsellor at Kohimarama School for Terms 3 and 4 of 2021.
Further details including how to access this service will be in a letter to parents/caregivers coming home this Wednesday afternoon.
I wish you all a wonderful time with your family over this coming holiday break. If you are travelling for the holidays I wish you a safe journey.

Student Fundraiser – Wow!
Thank you for your support in raising funds to support extra beds in PICU at Starship Hospital. Students participated by wearing pyjamas or coming in mufti. We had some extremely generous donations so that we were able to finish on a total of $1,083 – how amazing is that!
Thank you for your unused sports equipment and clothing

Again, thank you for your generosity. Miss Folkard and I, with the girls involved in the whole operation just delivered 6 boxes of used but not needed sports equipment and clothing. They were greatly appreciated and for sure will be well used now that your child/ren no longer need them. Really appreciate your generosity, thank you.

Our Beautiful View
Have you noticed the amazing view that we have? Visitors and new families to the school often make the comment “wow – look at your view” when we step out of the office. Next time you are up on the deck by the office and Snell team take a moment to appreciate what a beautiful spot we have for our school.

Celtics claim championship

Last night the Year 6 Kohimarama Celtics took out the Year5/6 Yellow Division title in the Auckland City Basketball competition. In a very close game against the vigorous St Kents’ Girls School White Lightning, the Celtics prevailed 16-12, after being locked up at 6 all at halftime.
The player of the day was Coco P, and special thanks to Lucas O who stepped in to cover regular team members Indie C and Isabella E, who were not able to take the court.
Many thanks to all the parents who made this possible with coaching, scorekeeping and supporting the team. The Celtics look forward to defending their title in the Term 3 competition.
Eutopia Cheer and Dance Competition

On the weekend the Kohimarama School Cheerleading team competed at Eutopia Cheer and Dance Competition in Auckland.
Coached by 3 time world champion winner, Michelle Williams, the girls did an outstanding performance and picked up a 2nd place.
Thanks goes to Mrs Hepburn who helped train the girls, Kelly Coe who printed the tee shirts (at short notice) and to Mrs Crow who manages the team.
The team trains once a week during lunchtime at school and are now preparing for their next competition in August.
