A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
Kohimarama School is operating at Alert Level 1
At school we will be maintaining the high levels of hygiene practices and cleaning that have been in use throughout the previous Alert Levels.
This includes:
- Sanitising hands when entering and exiting the classrooms
- Hand washing often
- Correct cough etiquette
- Cleaning of surfaces including desks, chairs and equipment each day
- The drinking fountains will continue to be closed at this stage so bring your own drink bottles to school.
The school will operate without restriction, however, everyone entering the site is encouraged to sign in when on site using the NZ COVID Tracer App. This QR Code continues to be available at school entry points.
School hours have returned to 8.55am – 3pm. As is normal access to classrooms is from 8.30am as there is no supervision of children prior to this time. The normal day programme including break times is reinstated and the whole school will take breaks together.
Meet the Teacher
Please note that we have rescheduled our Meet the Teacher to Tuesday 2nd March. We will be focusing on building the positive relationships between you and the teacher of your children as well as the Kohimarama School Learning Community. This aligns with our strategic goal; Build a positive and connected school community.
Your family is invited to a BYO picnic at the school commencing at 5.30pm.
The PTA have arranged a Sausage Sizzle and food trucks including Sushi Truck, Spin Spuds and Stumpy’s Pizza so you can purchase food on site.
At 15 minute intervals there will be an opportunity to go with your family to visit your child’s class to meet with the teacher and other parents and students. You will have information to take away. No formal presentation will be made.
The schedule to visit classrooms will be as follows:
6.00pm – Kiri Team – Year 1 students
6.15pm – Cowley Team – Year 2 and 3 students
6.30pm – Hillary Team – Year 4 and 5 students
6.45pm – Snell Team – Year 6,7 and 8 students
7.00pm – Evening ends
In the event of being rained off, the classes will be open at the above times for you and the family to visit the teacher.
We look forward to welcoming our families to this evening.
Our School Vision
We dream – moemoeā
we inspire – whakaohooho
we create – waihanga
we empower – whakamana
This means we:
- Dream: we encourage our learners to create and innovate
- Inspire: we inspire our learners through our values and whanaungatanga (to have a sense of belonging and family connection) to have a strong sense of pride and belief
- Create: we build a community of learners and problem solvers
- Empower: we empower our learners and provide them with the tools to achieve
This statement forms part of our Kohimarama Way represented through the symbol of our Pohutukawa Tree. It tells everyone what we live and believe and connects our values and Learner dispositions.

The Kohimarama Way – Reliability
Reliability means that others can depend on you to keep your commitments. Reliability is doing something that you have agreed to do in a predictable way, without forgetting or having to be reminded. When you practice reliability, you really care about doing what you said you would do. Other people can relax knowing it is in your reliable hands.

Lost Hand Bag
A few weeks ago a two tone brown hand bag was found outside a Ronaki Road address. There was nothing to help identify the owner. Inside the bag were exercise items, Kohimarama School Newsletter and a tooth extraction care note. If you believe this is your bag, please contact the office for further information.
