Hi there, it is great to see happy students, teachers and parents back at school after such an unexpected start to the beginning of the year with a 3 day lockdown!
Our School Picnic and Meet the Teacher evening has now been re-scheduled to Tuesday March 2 at 5.30pm. We still have the following food trucks coming; Sushi truck, spin spuds, stumpy’s pizza as well as PTA BBQ sausages and Ice blocks. We look forward to seeing you and your family there.
Congratulations to all 60 students who participated in the Weetbix TRYathlon on Sunday 14th February. The weather was glorious and there was such a great atmosphere. It was the first time I have attended this event and I was impressed at how well organized it was. Special thanks to Simon Bourke and Anna Hwang who came down on Saturday night and set up the Kohimarama school tents.
Class Coordinators
At the beginning of each year we look for a class co-ordinator (or co-ordinators) who becomes the central point of contact for each classroom. Key responsibilities include:
- Passing on communication directly from the PTA
- Facilitating social events for both parents and children to get to know each other (suggest one per term) – i.e., class picnic at Madills/beach; meeting for drinks somewhere local (parents only)
- Welcome new families who start during the school year and assist with the introduction to the school i.e., update on walking school bus, ice block/pizza Friday, sushi Wednesday etc
- Organise the end of year gift for your teacher
Centennial Gala Dinner
Make a mark in your calendar for Saturday 11th September, with the return of the Soiree. This will coincide with the 100 year celebration weekend at the school!
We are in the early planning stages and need lots of hands. There are plenty of roles that you can do in your own time, don’t require you to attend meetings and best of all, provide that sense of giving back to the community. Of course if you have more time we really welcome this assistance too. There are three streams of work – auction, budget and event management you can volunteer for. So if you’re passionate about theming and decor, music, catering or even just happy to take RSVPs please let us know.
For more information email kohiptachair@gmail.com, or have a chat with Julie Lidnenberg, Lizzie Massey or Elise Blundell.
Second Hand Uniforms
The second hand uniform co-ordinator Brent Lindenberg, has had a 2021 spring clean of the stock. We have a good inventory of what is available and there are plenty of sizes 4 and 6. T-shirts are $15, shorts/skorts are $20, fleeces are $25, with 100% of proceeds going directly back to the school. To make a request use the link of the Kohimarama website https://www.kohimarama.school.nz/pta/second-hand-uniforms/
Fun Run
Madills Farm, Friday 26 March 4-7pm
Back by popular demand! The very popular family fun run event returns in 2021.
Search for help with Sushi
Sushi is on this week! We are still looking for some more volunteers to help deliver it, on a Wednesday, to the 200+ students who order it.
We’d love to hear from you. Contact kohiptachair@gmail.com to find out more.
Don’t forget to like our PTA Facebook page to be kept up to date with what is going and when we need extra hands to make things happen.
