Fundraising Events

COVID-19 is really playing havoc with many things this year and our school fundraising is certainly feeling the impact! We have some great events planned and we do hope, if you can, that you generously support our term 4 fundraisers. Next term sees the return of our popular quiz-a-thon and calendar art  and with Christmas just 3 months away … we have some great ways to make your Christmas planning a little easier starting with our Xmas tree and Xmas Treat fundraiser! And we start the hunt for your original family favourite recipes …

Trivia Night – Virtual Event coming in term 4

We are working with quizmaster Sam to create a ‘virtual’ trivia night – details TBC

Kids Literacy Quiz-A-Thon – 04 Nov

The ever popular QUIZ-A-THON is returning in term 4 to raise funds and to extend our kids general knowledge.

19th Oct – Each class will be given their literacy questions (Kiri 10, Cowley 15, Hillary 20 and Snell 25 questions) which they will learn in class and at home. It would be great if you could also please support your children and encourage their learning of their questions at home. Sponsorship form will also come home today so you can start gathering your sponsors!

4th Nov – Kids will be tested in class and teacher will advise how many questions were correctly answered. We would appreciate your support in celebrating your child’s QUIZ-A-THON success and obtain sponsorship from family and friends

12th Nov -Final date for Sponsorship form returned to the teacher with fundraising money (in cash) or if you prefer, direct deposit fundraising money into the PTA Bank account (if depositing funds to the PTA account, the form will still need to be returned to the teacher)

THE PRIZES …

1. The class who raises the most money will each receive a free Fruity Kanuti

2. The first class to return all their fundraising money will each receive a free Fruity Kanuti

Calendar Art Fundraiser

The ever popular calendar art fundraiser is returning next term.

Artwork will be done for the majority of the classes in the first week of term 4 (years 7/8 in second week of term 4).

19-30 Oct – artwork on display in the classrooms & order forms home

06 Nov – last day for paper form orders to be returned

08 Nov – last day for online orders

Early Dec – products delivered to kids to bring home

Christmas Trees …

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree … there is something truly special about a real Christmas tree!

We will again  working with Zach’s Christmas Trees who will provide Kohimarama School a commission for any Christmas trees sold – the more trees sold, the higher the funds!

… & Christmas Treats!

Let us make your Christmas baking easy this year! We are working with Arobake to provide a smorgasbord of delicious Christmas treats perfect for gifts, family gatherings and Christmas parties, all without the workload and supporting our fundraising efforts at the same time!

More details to come next term.

2021 Centennial

Centennial Fundraising Cookbook – From Kohi Kitchens

In commemoration of Kohimarama School’s Centennial, we will create a ‘collector’s edition’ fundraising cookbook to celebrate 100 years of Kohimarama school and our community.

Concept Idea:  From our kitchen to yours, we bring you a collection of our family favourite recipes – the best-of-the-best from our Kohimarama school community – friends and family sharing their recipes with you.  A high quality, ‘bookshop worthy’ modernised version of the ‘classic school cookbook’, brimming with real food and trusted family favourites you’re sure to love, to make their way into your kitchen and your heart.

Featuring simple, family-friendly recipes, ‘From Kohi Kitchens’ (working title) gives you and your kids endless ideas for family meals & celebration dinners, breakfast & brunch, play dates & sleepovers, picnics & beach days, lunchbox ideas & healthy snacks and bake sales!

What’s Your Original Family Favourite Recipe?

Early next term we will start the search for your original family favourite recipe – just note recipes need to be your own original recipes, something your family loves to eat or a recipe that has been lovingly handed down from mums and grandmas rather than something you love to make from a published cookbook!

The school holidays provides the ideal time to bake, cook and test out your recipes! So dust off those recipes and happy cooking!

More details to follow.

Community Events

NEW DATE – Sunday 18 October (based on being in level 1)

Morning 10-12, afternoon 12-2pm or all day!

You don’t have to be a gardening guru to help – there are jobs big and small – lots of pruning and ‘clearing out’ of unruly plants as well as planting of new plants and trees.

Kids are welcome and there will be a BBQ lunch provided at 12 noon

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR ATTENDANCE to Lizzie: elizabeth.p.massey@gmail.com with the following info:

  • Who will be attending
  • What time – morning/afternoon or all day
  • What tools you can bring (eg pruning shears, spade, wheelbarrow…)
  • If you have any special gardening skills or you are good at digging holes!

We have made the difficult decision to cancel our ‘previously postponed’ much loved Blokes Breakfast event.  Thank you to those of you who purchased tickets – please contact Lynda kohiptachair@gmail.com if you would like your ticket price credited back to your kindo account, otherwise we gratefully accept this as a donation to the school.

St Heliers Bay Village – School Holiday ‘Wig’ Hunt

The kids will love the ‘wig hunt’ around St Heliers Bay Village these holidays. It’s a free event helping the Child Cancer Foundation and there are also some family movie passes to ‘The War with Grandpa’ movie to give away. The ‘Wig hunt’ starts at Paper Plus St Heliers.

Activity Update

Yummy Stickers – Thank you!

Thanks to you all for collecting the stickers from the ‘Yummy’ branded fruit – there has been a lot of apples eaten by Kohimarama kids!

We are in the process of counting all of these stickers which will be sent to Yummy and exchanged for new sports equipment.  We will confirm next term the amount of yummy stickers collected and who munched their way through the most apples!

Weetbix Tryathlon – Registrations Open

The annual Central East Auckland Weetbix Triathlon will be held on Sunday 14th February 2021 at Pt England Reserve. Kohimarama School has created a school group so when registering your child follow the instructions and enter them into our school group. More info can be found at tryathlon.co.nz

We are looking for a parent volunteer who is keen to create a training regime and help support the Kohimarama school kids training in the lead up to the event next year. Please contact Lynda on kohiptachair@gmail.com if you can help.

Get involved and have your say in 2020

We are always looking for more parents to get involved – if you have some ideas we’d love to see you at our PTA meetings held the first Monday of each month in the school staff room, or happy to hear from you anytime – email Lynda kohiptachair@gmail.com
