I write to thank you for the way in which our students have been engaged with their learning while we are in Alert level 3. Your support for this is important and assists them to continue to engage in the learning. Team leaders report that many, many students are online taking part in the work set.
2020 has indeed been a very disruptive year. The more that we can do to work together in support of learning the better outcomes for students. SchoolTalk is the learning management system that we use at Kohimarama School. In our previous lockdown and emergency closure teachers continued to interact with students using this tool.
Our learning time between 9.00am and midday focuses on Mathematics and Literacy. We expect that all students will work through the work set each day. We also use Google Meet to enable face to face connections and again we would expect that students will take part in these meets when they have been set by teachers. If on occasion you find that your child is unable to be present for the meeting then please email the teacher as a matter of course.
Like you, the school is waiting to hear the Prime Ministers press conference scheduled for 4pm tomorrow where we will receive further direction as to the country’s response to COVID 19. In particular, what this will mean for the families of the Kohimarama School Learning Community.
Again, thank you for all you do to support the learning at home. Working together, we will get through this.
