COVID-19 – 24 August 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers
You will have heard the Prime Minister today confirm that Auckland will remain in Alert level 3 for the rest of this week. We will then move into Alert Level 2 on Monday 31 August, all things going to plan.

Kohimarama School will therefore remain closed at Alert Level 3 for all students until Sunday 30 August. We will continue to provide for the students of essential workers that we are currently accommodating. Students are to continue to learn online using our SchoolTalk learning management system. Teachers are able to support students as individuals may require, alongside scheduled Google Meetings. The same scheduling is in place as was made last week and will run again during this coming week. Thank you for your support of online learning.

I will write to you on Friday afternoon to detail the  procedures that the school will have in place for the students when they return to school at Alert Level 2 on Monday 31 August. This will be similar to our previous change from AL3 to AL2. Contact tracing will be by way of the NZ COVID Tracer and the QR code will be present at all of our entry points. Please ensure that you have the government app available as this will be the method of tracking community access to the school.

Teachers will be attending an onsite staff meeting on Friday afternoon. Online learning with staff will cease from 11.00am on this day. There will be a few exceptions where teachers will finish online learning at 10.30am, due to the long travelling distances they have. These teachers will let you know personally via email.

Kohimarama School Postponements;
● PTA event – Trivia Night Sat 05 Sep – new date TBC
● No Eastern Zone Interzone or Bay Suburbs events until we return to AL1

In the meantime, keep safe in your bubbles. I am sure that the Kohimarama School learning community will get through this together.

Yours sincerely
Paul Engles
Principal
