COVID-19 – 15 August 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Following the address from our Prime Minister on Friday, we will remain in Alert Level 3 at this time. This will be reviewed by Cabinet on Friday 21st August.

I want to acknowledge the learning that is continuing at home. This is important in supporting our students, to maintain and continue progress in their learning, in particular Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Remember to contact your child/ren’s teacher if you have questions or need support during the online learning time from 9.00 am to 12 noon. Thank you to parents and teachers for the enormous efforts that you are putting into this. A suggestion where possible, that you plan your day or week with your child/ren.

Consider:
● Your family routine
● what everyone will do together, or do on their own.

SchoolTalk (Kohimarama School Learning Management System) sessions are online with teachers between 9am and midday. Our teaching teams have a range of afternoon activities that are designed to assist families with activities that support art, physical education etc. These can be found via the following link; https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oX7HUJVsMvAbmYHHRClUuOknw3u7kq6bPW7n3JaSa Uo/edit

Additionally, there is the Home Learning TV | Papa Kāinga TV programmes on TVNZ on demand, these are episodes from the previous lockdown.

During Alert Level 3 our school remains open for the children of essential workers. Last week, on our busiest day we had six students, showing that our community agrees with our Prime Minister, that the safest place for our students is at home. During this time we are working to strict protocols, which have been shared with those families returning to school. A reminder to all that our school site is closed to the community apart from those essential workers’ children and the staff supervising them.
