A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents

I hope that you all enjoyed a family friendly long weekend.

Today we have implemented our Alert Level 2 reviewed protocols. These were sent out to the community on Monday. The change in the protocols mirror the government’s lessening of requirements.

Please remember to fill in the contact tracing form associated with this QR code

or at: Kohimarama School Contact Tracing

The school contact tracing form is a requirement for us to record all those who enter our site. This is different from the Government’s contact tracing app which does not provide us with the information that we need to comply with our school tracking requirements.

For those who have students attending activities before and/or after school, we have been in contact with each of the providers of these classes in order to ensure that they meet the Kohimarama School requirements in respect to managing the COVID 19 Pandemic requirements.  This includes hygiene, cleaning and contact tracing requirements.

If your child(ren) needs to access the school before 8.30am and after 3.00pm to attend a class then you may escort them to the Hall. If you come on site to collect your children then it is important that you complete the contact tracing form via the QR code. As always we prefer that you do not drive into school close to entry and exit times.

The Kohimarama Way – Friendliness

Friendliness begins with liking yourself and believing you have something to share with others.  Be kind to people you don’t know.  You can be friendly just by walking along, looking into people’s faces, and smiling.  They will probably smile back.  Show your friends you are glad to see them, by asking how their day is going and sharing your news with them.

News

Parents to supervise Road Patrols – We need your support please

You know how you read something in the school newsletter and think to yourself, they will have lots of volunteers so I will do something else?  Well you must have all thought that as we didn’t get any volunteers and now we have three spots to fill for morning road patrol.  Are you available from 8.25 am to 8.55 am on one morning during the week to be a supervisor with our road patrollers on either Kohimarama (Monday and Thursday) or Rawhitiroa Road (Wednesday)?  Please contact me, Meegan mhill@kohimarama.school.nz  if you are able to support our students in this way, thank you.

Student Fundraiser  –  Friday 5th June, this week

We are holding a fundraiser for our World Vision child, Nurnobi on Friday this week.  We are asking students to enter in some fun left over from Lockdown and bring a teddy bear or soft toy, $2 and wear mufti (weekend clothes) on Friday here at school.  See posters in your child’s classroom.  Thank you for your support.

Photolife Photos – 9th June

Photolife will be taking class and individual photos on site on Tuesday 9th June.
They will be taking appropriate precautions regarding distancing in class photos and cleaning chairs and benches between groups.
They will visit later in the year to photograph groups, siblings, new entrant classes and sports teams.

Absences

If you have a child staying home for any reason please contact the school office by email or phone the absentee line 09 930 9826. Childs name, room number and reason for absence must be provided. If no reason for absence is given your child will be marked with an unjustified absence.

Wednesday Sushi and Ice block/pizza Friday – on hold

With the return to school please note we initially won’t be having sushi lunch on Wednesday or Friday ice blocks/Pizza at big break. We will update you when these will recommence.

HOUSE POINTS

We are now back up and running with house points. Last term Patterson finished as the winning house.

Last week Colenso was the winning house. for the first house points tally for term 2. It will be interesting to see who the winning house for term 2 actually is as there was only one points difference between the houses.
Congratulations Colenso
