Protocols during Alert Level 2

Student Arrival and Departure Times
It is important that these times and entrances below are adhered to as much as possible to ensure overcrowding doesn’t happen.

NB Families arrive and leave at the same time, and by the same gate as the youngest child in the family

Entrances to be used by Teams:
Kiri and Cowley Teams Rawhitiroa Road entrance
Snell and Hillary Teams Kohimarama Road entrance

  • Once students arrive at school, they are to go straight to their classrooms and remain inside until lessons begin at 8.55 am
  • Every time student/adult enters or leaves their classroom, they must use the hand sanitiser provided
  • Where possible we would like children to be left at the gate, however, Year 0 – 2 students may be accompanied by a parent to their classroom door
  • If a parent enters the school grounds, they must use QR code at each entrance for contact tracing
  • Only one parent in the classroom at a time to ensure 2-metre distancing, parents please sign-in on the form if you enter the room
  • When preschoolers are in the school grounds they must be under the control of their parent at all times. They will not be able to access school equipment or use our playgrounds during Alert Level 2
  • At this time no dogs are to be on the school grounds

Toileting for Students
● Each team will be assigned a specific toilet area for their use, to limit the number of students within a given space
Snell Team = Snell team toilets
Hillary Team = Toilets behind the library
Cowley Team = Kiwiana toilets and the toilets between Rooms 10 and 11
Kiri Team = Kiri toilets Rm 2 and Rm 3

● There will be strict handwashing procedures to follow and these will be gone over in the classrooms
● There will also be a soap dispenser placed at every classroom sink so that the students can also wash hands within the classroom.
● Students to bring their own hand towel from home 

Eating and Drinking
● No drinking fountains will be turned on, students need to bring drink bottles with water
● Lunches will be eaten in the classroom for the 10minutes before the Year group break time, supervised by their teacher

Fitness for Students
● Exercise for students in the class – ‘Move It’ or another exercise programme will be followed by the class teacher every thirty minutes
● Year groups are able to enjoy Jump Jam or other exercise programmes. It is essential that students are 2 metres apart when involved in these activities. As you can see modified fitness and PE will occur during Alert Level 2

Areas Closed to students
● Library, Hall, Performing Arts Room, PE shed

Programmes for the first two weeks back
As students have been absent from school for a lengthy period and experiencing a pandemic first hand, teachers will be focusing on students well-being and rebuilding relationships within the classroom. Over these two weeks, the programmes and homework will be modified from what they were in Term One. Nightly readers may not go home straight away and usual homework programmes will not begin immediately
