COVID19 – 26 May 2020

26 May 2020

Dear Parents

We have had a very successful return to school in Alert Level 2 and thank our staff, students and families for making this work so well.

As the government has lifted the group size to 100, we have revised our plans with the following taking effect Tuesday 2nd June.

Entry and Exit

Gates for students to arrive and depart will remain the same with times as follows:

Rawhitiroa Road Entrance Kiri and Cowley teams (and siblings) Arrive from 8.30am onwards
Depart 3pm
Kohimarama Road Entrance Hillary and Snell teams  Arrive from 8.30am onwards
Depart 3pm
  • Please continue to practice social distancing while waiting
  • Students to go straight to classrooms
  • No dogs on site during Alert Level 2
  • Preschool siblings to remain with parents while on site

Contact Tracing

We continue to encourage limiting the number of adults on the school grounds by parents dropping off and collecting students at the gate.  Where parents enter the school grounds they must complete the school owned Contract Tracing form accessed by the QR code.  Note this is not connected to the Government COVID19 Tracing App.

Break times

Larger group sizes will allow our teams to have their breaks together rather than individual year groups  ie.  Hillary Team – Years 4 and 5 will have breaks together from next week.

Physical Full School Assembly

These will remain on hold until a later date.

School Groups

Kapa Haka and School choir will be able to recommence.

Hall and Ground Users

Outside organisations who use our school hall or grounds will be invited to commence their operations as long as they are able to meet the additional requirements around hygiene and  cleaning.  If your child attends these classes, please check with the provider regarding when they will recommence their service.

Band

Will remain on hold until a later date.

Sports Practices

We are waiting for communications from sporting organisations regarding the restarting of different codes for primary schools.

We can confirm that there will be no interschool sports for the remainder of Term 2.

Hygiene

The school will continue operating with the current high level of hygiene practices.  These include:

  • Regular washing and drying of hands
  • Cough and sneeze etiquette
  • Additional classroom cleaning
  • Hand sanitising
  • Physical distancing
  • Remaining away from school if unwell
  • Using individual drink bottles as water fountains will remain closed
  • Hand towels for personal use

Note that school recommences on Tuesday 2nd June.  There is no Teacher Only Day due to the large time away from school due to COVID19.

Wishing you all an enjoyable break with your family for Queens Birthday weekend.

Kind regards

Paul Engles
