26 April 2020
Dear Parents
You will be aware of the government move from COVID 19 Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3 announced on Monday 20 April.
Since then the school has been preparing for a partial reopening. There are many Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health requirements including a specific COVID 19 Safety Plan to be developed and implemented.
Alongside these preparations we have surveyed the Kohimarama School community to ascertain the numbers of students from families of essential workers or those returning to work. The small number of students returning, has allowed us to prepare four secure bubbles.
We have sufficient staff and can manage the safety requirements for this to occur in line with the guidelines. Our bubbles are largely based on family groups in order to minimise exposure across a number of bubbles. Those families attending school from Wednesday 29 April have been written to separately.
Staff are continuing with online learning during Alert Level 3 alongside supervision of students at school.It looks like online learning will continue over the foreseeable future. I am pleased to see staff, parents and students responding positively to this new learning environment.
This week;
1. ANZAC public holiday Monday 27 April No online learning
2. Teachers Only Day Tuesday 28 April No online learning
3. Partial opening Wednesday 29 April online learning continues
Kind regards
Paul Engles
