Teacher Only Days
Please be aware of Teacher Only Days for this year. Tuesday 2nd June & Tuesday 27th October.
Roll Return 2020
Twice a year, in March and July, all schools in New Zealand are required to furnish to the Ministry of Education a return detailing all students enrolled at their schools. This return determines our funding and staffing for the remainder of the school year. If your child is going to be absent or late for any reason on Monday 2nd March the office will require a letter or email from a parent/guardian justifying the student’s absence from school. This correspondence is to be provided to the school office, at office@kohimarama.school.nz no later than Wednesday 4th March by 9.00 am. Thank you in advance.
Phone Permission
We do not recommend that students bring cellphones to school. Cellphones are not necessary to have during the day. However, we understand that some parents like their children to have a phone to communicate with them after school. Cell phones may be confiscated if a child does not have permission to have the device at school or if they are not following the school guidelines. To complete the phone permission form, please click here.
Senior School Swimming Sport (Years 5-8) Thursday 5th MarchICAS Assessments
Kohimarama School will no longer be offering ICAS assessments for our students. These assessments were ‘extra’ for students and the results from these were not used for future learning with our students. We believe that PAT (Progress and Achievement tests) give valuable and more useable information about our students. These tests are nationally normed and specific for New Zealand students. Kohimarama students sit these tests from Year 3 to Year 8 twice a year, from this data we are able to see where our students’ knowledge is now, and where the gaps are and at the end of the year we are able to see if students have improved. The information from these tests are used by our teachers in their class programmes, specifically for students learning.
We warmly welcome you to come and support our first sporting event for 2020. Our swimming sports will be held at Sacred Heart indoor pool (244 W Tāmaki Rd, Glen Innes).
Students will need to be at school no later than 8.20am on Thursday 5 March. We will then depart Kohimarama School at 8.30am via buses. Students are expected to travel to and from our swimming sports by bus and remain at school till 3pm as usual. Cones will be placed along Rāwhitiroa Road so the buses are able to park.
Swim Races 9.00am—1.30pm-ish. Please find the order of events listed below. We are unable to give you accurate times for each event.
We require some parent helpers on the day. Please email Anna-Lena Lockie, alockie@kohimarama.school.nz if you are able to help.
