A Message from the Deputy Principals

Welcome back to Term 3. We hope everyone had a lovely break.

School Open Days – Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th July

We are really looking forward to having everyone visit us on our Open Days on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to see the way our school works. You will have received an email from your child’s teacher outlining their timetable for these two days and we invite you to choose a time that works for you. We ask that before going to the classrooms, you first meet in the hall with Debbie and Meegan for a quick chat outlining what you should expect to see.  Our intention is that you see an everyday class situation with students and teachers working as they always do. Due to this the teachers will be teaching and will not be available to chat with you, please feel free to speak to the students who will fill you in on what they are learning. Additionally we have a building project in rooms 11, 12 and 13 that was started in the holidays and will not be fully completed until after our Open Days. Therefore these classrooms will not have students work on display around the room. Please note meeting and classroom visit times below.

Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th July

9.00 am  – meet in the hall first

11.30 am – meet in the hall first

1.50pm  – meet in the hall first

The theme for the disco is come as a  ‘Movie Star’. The tickets are $5 and can be purchased outside the hall in the morning 8.30 – 8.55am and in the afternoon 3 – 3.15pm everyday. There will be no door sales.

Thursday 15th August –  School will finish for the students at 1.00pm with discussions starting at 1.30pm

We will have some capacity to supervise students in the hall where parents are unable to make alternative arrangements.  It is important that your child’s classroom teacher is informed by 9.00am on the morning of Thursday 15th August if you would like your child supervised in the hall.

Instructions on how to book your Student Achievement Discussions will come out via email through the week.

Do you have Story Books in a language other than English?

Students and our school librarian, Barbara have come up with a fabulous idea of including books in our Library written in other languages.  We have a diverse group of students at our school whose first language is not English, eg. Swedish, German, Afrikaans, Dutch, French, Mandarin, etc.  If you are one of these families with books written in your first language that you do not need anymore, we would be very grateful if you took them to the Library for Barbara to add to our books. This way all students could enjoy the stories from another culture and appreciate how impressive it is for students at our school to speak  and understand more than one language.

Cowley Playground Upgrade

The Cowley playground has been resurfaced over the holidays. Thank you to the PTA for all your fundraising efforts.
