Working Bee – THIS SUNDAY 19 May 10am-2pm – Please come and help make a difference

Thanks for your support and efforts to improve the School’s outdoor environment, by taking part in our working bee this Sunday 19 May. This year our focus will be on painting, weeding and hedge trimming – the more volunteers we have the more we can do!

You don’t need to come for the entire four hours – you can just spend a couple of hours (10am-12noon and 12noon-2pm) but of course you are welcome for the whole day!

Feel free to bring your kids along and there will be a sausage sizzle on the top field at 12noon. This is a community event so if you have any friends or family who may be able to help we would love to hear from them too.

What we would like to achieve on Sunday:

PAINTING – beige colour (2 coats) – bottom area from office through to the library (doesn’t include railing)
Volunteers to bring please:  paint trays, brushes and small rollers if you have them

HEDGE TRIMMING – hedges outside hall x 1, by performing arts room x 3, Cowley stairs from library x 2, Cowley stairs to room 6 x 3, on driveway bottom of room 6 x 1, down driveway from Rawhitaroa Road by Kiri x 1

PLANT REMOVAL – outside room 17 x 2, ferns by carpark/room 6 x 4, ivy from fence outside library x 1

WEEDING – garden beds outside performing arts area, around Cowley playground and driveway edges from Rawhitaroa Road to bottom field

WOOD CHIP – distribute around 3 x Cowley playground garden areas

Volunteers to bring please: hedge trimmer (non electric), garden shears, spades, wheelbarrows, gloves

See you on Sunday!

Trivia Night is back – Friday 14 June – TV Show Theme

Quiz Master Sam is back with electronic handsets and a real time leader board and DJ Prior will have you dancing from 10 until midnight – start organising a table and plan your costume with the tv themes as your inspiration.  Registration and full details will be out shortly.

Funds raised from this years trivia night will go towards re-matting the Cowley playground to ensure a safe play area for our kids. As well as a silent auction on the night we will be offering an online auction in the lead up to the trivia night. This online auction will include buy now items as well as the opportunity to bid on the silent auction items on the night, which will be open to the entire school community. So even if you don’t go to trivia night you can still support by purchasing an auction item – keep an eye out for details over the next few weeks.

If you are able to volunteer in setting up (from 3pm) or help out on the night – email Lynda kohiptachair@gmail.com

Also we are looking for auction items – if  you have something (a holiday home, products and services) you would like to donate we’d love to hear from you – email Lynda kohiptachair@gmail.com

Jammies in June – PJ’s collected Tues 04 – Fri 07 June

This year we will again be supporting Jammies in June which is an initiative run by the Middlemore Foundation to get warm pyjamas to kids in need.

Supporters collect pyjamas which are then distributed through Middlemore Hospital and local GPs to families in need. The aim is to help keep kids warm over winter to break the cycle of winter illnesses.

Volunteers will be in the hall every morning from 8.30 – 9am during the week of 04-07 June.  If you would like to donate a new pair of pyjamas they would be gratefully received.

Any questions please contact Lynda kohiptachair@gmail.com

Activity Update

Donate a Book to the School Library – BOOKS ALL PROCESSED!

Andreza and parent helpers have been busy getting all of the 94 donated books purchased by you during book week covered, sticky labels created and inserted and processed into the library system. The books are now ready to be taken home for a week by the kids and families who purchased each book to read and enjoy, before they become part of the library distribution.  Books will be distributed to the children’s classroom this week.  Thanks so much for your support of book week.

Bi-Annual Whittaker’s Chocolate Fundraiser is coming in July!
