A Message from our Student Leaders
School Disco
On Friday 17th we had our annual school disco. We, the student leaders, organised the whole event including, decorations, photo booth, photo-taking, drink and snack purchasing, ticket selling and the design of both the posters and tickets – phew! We supported the junior disco, by making sure everyone had someone to dance with and that they had fun. It went smoothly and I think everyone, including us, enjoyed it. This year we had two themes which were: for the junior disco we had Neon and for the senior disco we had 21st Century. We hoped by having a different theme for the senior disco we would encourage/motivate more people to come. DJ Dave did multiple activities and the juniors and seniors were given prizes for winning the activities. The songs he played were also age appropriate. Thank you to the parents and teachers who helped us take all the decorations down at the end of the Disco, you really helped us out. We are already looking forward to the 2019 Disco and hope the students who took away the balloons had a great time with them.
School Cross Country
On Thursday 16th, our annual cross country took place at Madills Farm. This year the Year 7&8’s were first to run the race, which meant the senior helpers had more energy for their own race. I like Madills Farm better because everyone can see the runners all the way around the course, we knew how far we had to run and could pace ourselves, and we had more Year 8’s running around with the younger runners, which meant more encouragement all the way around the course. Two of our Teacher Aides ran the course with students, which showed a real commitment on the day. It was great to hear all the cheering, House chants and encouragement from students throughout the day. Some of us found the course so long and others found it went really quickly. I finished 2nd this year other student leaders also did really well: Natan 1st, Henry 7th, Maddie 4th and Zoe 5th. Thank you to all the parents and teachers for their support, especially Mrs Drefers who organised the day for us.

Production Update
We are on our five week countdown now.
As the production draws closer, the students who have a lead role will be working harder and be involved in a different kind of learning than the normal school programme. Remember to let the teachers know if the homework load and school workload is causing stress for your child at this time and we can accommodate that.
You will receive emails from the teams with information regarding the segment that your child will be in and the requirements for that. Please do not go out and spend heaps of money on costumes. We would prefer that we make or reuse. If a purchase is desired by you then that is of course your choice.
A reminder about the make up that you need to be getting together for your child as per last week’s newsletter. Posters will be up around the school soon and tickets will also be available soon.
The excitement continues to lift as we get closer to performance dates.
