Auction items wanted

Auction evenings like the Soiree are a bi-annual event and are by far the PTA’s biggest fundraiser.  Proceeds from this year’s auction are vital to our school and are designated for improvements to the outdoor environment, books and technology.

We need your help to reach our fundraising goals!!!

We are looking for auction items for the live and silent auctions which will be held at the Soirée. Ideas include gift vouchers, gourmet food or wine or something more creative. No item is too big or too small!!

We would especially love to hear from you if you have a holiday house that you would consider auctioning for a weekend, or if you have a boat and would be interested in perhaps guiding a fishing trip or taking a group for a harbour cruise.  Such items are always in demand!!!

If you are interested in donating an item or have any questions or ideas relating to the auction please contact Lauren at laurenalberino@gmail.com.

We are also looking for corporate sponsorship. If your business would be interested in sponsoring part of the event – for example the cocktail hour, DJ or dessert, please email kohiptachair@gmail.com.

Thank you to our key sponsor for the Soirée, Barfoot & Thompson Kohimarama Branch and Julie Kennedy.

Blokes Breakfast – Friday 31 August, 7.30-8.30am

Get the kids to bring along their special big bloke for a light breakfast in the school hall, with a few other surprises. Tickets are $5 per person, and can be purchased before school in Kiri, Monday 20th – Friday 24th August.

Breakfast & tea/coffee is included in the ticket price. Expresso coffee is available for purchase (bring cash – no eftpos.)

  • Email in a photo of your kids with their Bloke to kohiblokesbreakfast@gmail.com. Send by Wed, 29 August so they can be displayed on the big screen on the day.
  • You will be given a poster for the kids to draw a picture of their Bloke when you buy your tickets. Return to your classroom teacher by Wed, 29 August, so they can be displayed on the day.

Teacher Appreciation

Fancy playground equipment and devices are great – but when it comes down to it, nothing is more important to our kids at school than a good teacher.  We are lucky to have a group of amazing teachers at Kohimarama School and as a small token of our appreciation for their dedication and hard work, the PTA has decided to spend money raised from Sushi Wednesday on our teachers and other staff.  Last week a box full of coffee, tea, cookies and snacks was delivered to the staffroom and next Wednesday we will be shouting the teachers a sushi lunch.

We will keep you updated throughout the term on other things we have planned. If you have any ideas, or thoughts on our teacher appreciation initiative please email kohiptachair@gmail.com

Parent Helpers Needed!!!

Road Patrol
We urgently need extra parents to help out around the school, especially on Road Patrol.  In the morning teachers are required to be in the classroom from 8.30am and don’t have time to stand at the road crossing keeping our kids safe.  WE NEED PARENTS TO DO THIS.  If you can spare 30 minutes (from 8.25am – 8.55am) once a week or fortnight please let us know.  Contact Justine Boyd on justineboyd123@gmail.com.
Ice-block Friday and Sushi Wednesday
We also need more volunteers for Ice-block Friday and Sushi Wednesday.  Unfortunately both of these initiatives will have to be suspended if we cannot find some extra helpers.  Ice-block Friday helpers are needed on Fridays at 12.55pm for about 20 mins, roughly once a term. Sushi Wednesday Volunteers are need on Wednesday from 10.25 – 11.25, a few times a term.  If you are able to help please email  kohiptachair@gmail.com.
