A Message from Cowley Team
Cowley Team have been having a busy few weeks with our Triathlon and our visit to the Auckland Museum.
Last Monday we all completed the ‘Great Cowley Triathlon’ in order to raise funds for the school production later in the year. Our triathlon was made up of scootering, running and completing an obstacle course. Each event was 6-8 minutes long and we had to keep going until the whistle blew. We had some great helpers from Snell Team who showed us what to do and when to go to the next activity.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us!
As part of our Exploration focus this term, we went to the Auckland Museum to learn how and why early people migrated to New Zealand. We got to see where they travelled from and learnt how they got here – using stars, the wind, clouds and water currents to show them the way. We got to try to use some of the boat building techniques that were used to build the ocean going waka. It was tricky but fun!

Inter-School Debating
On Wednesday last week, Kohimarama School hosted the Inter-School Debate competition with St Heliers, St Thomas’s and Stonefields Schools.
We had a massive turn out of over 50 students all who have been working exceptionally hard to prepare their debates and consider their rebuttal.
Our debates were:-
- “That children should have screen time free days” – We were opposing this against St Heliers and we won.
- “That teachers should be paid more if their students do better” – We were opposing this against Stonefields and we won.
- “That complaining is the best medicine” – We were affirming this against St Thomas’s and we won.
A huge thank you to Penny Tucker for her help and expertise, to Nikola Karsten for helping judge and to the students who worked so hard; Rowan K, Sean K, Zara T, Alice L, Carter A, Elani R, Natan C, Zoe C, Amelia M, Mia-Rose B, Mia D, Margo R and Trixie R.
Well done! – Mrs Crow
