Update from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Although the weather has been a bit up and down, humid and wet, we are setting a steady course at school to ensure that our learners are being challenged and supported to take their next steps. I have been impressed by the way that the students are positive about their learning and eager to be part of their class activities.
It is very good to see parents around the school smiling and positive about this year. These small things contribute to our sense of wellness in the school. A number have noted that we have a positive feel throughout the school.
To this end, I enjoy my opportunities to meet parents and students each day. I try to make time to visit classes to see what is happening in each room to talk about the learning and to ensure that I get to know students. I see parents as an integral part of the learning community that is Kohimarama School.
Kohimarama School Website
Our school website is nearly ready to launch and I hope this will happen over the next week or so. Editing and ensuring that we are able to bring the content that you want is our final steps in our preparation.
Meet the Teacher Evening
Our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening is scheduled for Tuesday 20 February at 7.00 pm. We will begin in the School Hall and there I will introduce the teaching teams, talk about our successes in 2017 and some of the plans that we have for 2018.
I hope that you will see a brief introduction to the SchoolTalk programme, a tool to share the real-time-learning of our students with you the parents the teacher and the student. Our Board of Trustees and PTA chair will have a short time to talk and introduce their plans for the school.
In all it is a time to meet your child’s teacher so most of this time is dedicated to that. I envisage that the evening will conclude shortly after 8.00 pm.
Kind regards
Paul Engles
The Kohimarama Way – Commitment
Without commitment, we just drift along, with no idea where we are going. We change our minds. We give up easily if things get too hard. We break our word. We give up on people we care about if they disappoint us or make a mistake. When we are committed, people can count on us to keep our promises. With commitment we can achieve great things.
